Steps to ScanDisk and Defrag

Running the scandisk and defrag tools will reduce most application errors and will enhance the performance of your operating system.

Scandisk /Disk Defrag Here is a disk defragmentation tool that supports FAT 16, FAT 32, and NTFS volumes. Other than being a little faster and more user friendly, the program does not appear to have any significant advantages over the standard Windows defragmenter.

First, make sure to disable the screen saver before you begin. then start with scandisk as follows :-

Go to Start, Programs , Accessories, System Tools , then click on Scandisk.

When the program loads, Select Standard or Thorough and Auto Fix Errors.

When Scandisk is done Run Defrag from Start, Programs, System Tools then click on Disk Defragmenter.

Click on the drop down menu and select a drive or ALL Hard Drives. This may take up to an hour do finish. Reboot when is Done!
